Replacing bushes - any practical experience out there?

Agree with Andy, if finances allow buy OEM Toyota front arms, they are VERY expensive though, £800+ for a full set from Toyota UK if my memory serves me right, about £300 cheaper here.

Okay, so two options then it seems:

The cheaper option - new shocks, new springs, new OEM bushes

The expensive option - new shocks, new springs, new bushes, new control arms (inc. new balljoints).

How much are these OEM bushes? (I think the £800 control arms are gonna have to wait)

Edit: it occured to me driving home to ask: if I fit the control arms at a later date will this knacker any bushes already fitted?

I thought the control arms had the bushes already pressed in to them, so the labour cost of fitting them is going to be a lot less than the fitting of bushes in the original arms if you see what i mean.

Just a thought, it might be worth getting quotes from garages for both routes you are looking at.

Okay, a few questions.

How do you know when you need to do the bushes ?

Can you describe some symptons of worn bushes ?

How many are there to replace ?

For practical reasons, do you do all of the bushes or just some important ones ?

How much are a complete set of bushes?

How many hours would it take to replace all the bushes ?

Who would be best to trust to do this task ?

I guess the main ones that most replace (on Soarers at least) are the LCA ones, you would normally get a creaking and groaning from them in the morning usually.

there are quite a few bushes to replace, Nic has posted DIAG of the EPC showing most of them.

As for the rest of your Q's, Nic could answer the cost one.

And fitting that depends on who does them for you, lets just say it aint less than a days work if you wanted ALL of them doing.
