Nic
Are there still places selling seal kits for callipers? Toyota told me they no longer do them. Toyota do still sell the rebuild kits for the brake calipers, as Dunk says you need to know which brakes you have fitted first. I've used this company for caliper rebuild kits and the quality is comparable with genuine Toyota parts http://www.biggred.co.uk/catalogue.php I've refurbished/rebuilt a number of sets of brake calipers recently so if you need any help/info just shout. Ok thanks. I will have a look and get a pic of them uploaded. I assume that is £30 per calliper. So £110 for all 4, that seems very cheap! No the caliper rebuild kits include parts for a pair of calipers, so you'd need one front refurb kit and one rear refurb kit, the genuine OEM Toyota kits are sold in the same way ie. one kit per pair of calipers. OEM Toyota prices for the refurb kits vary a lot depending on the car model, year, etc. some genuine Toyota kits are relatively cheap, others like the ones for my MR2 brakes are close to £100 per kit! Brake pad sets and the brake pad fitting kits are the same, they are sold to fit a pair of calipers. OEM brake discs are sold separately. Ebay is awash with cheap pads and discs claiming this and that, if you want genuine OEM Toyota parts I'd make sure you buy from a reputable dealer. Ill grab myself a set of refurb kits when i know the ones i need. I was hoping that at least one of the companies on ebay was selling good disks, as was hoping to have drilled or grooved up front just to aid things a bit. I personally would avoid drilled/grooved discs, they'll do nothing for the braking performance and be prone to warping and cracking. OEM Toyota discs may not look particularly sexy but in terms of performance and value for money they are hard to beat. Parts that are worth upgrading; quality stainless steel braided brake lines, decent brake fluid (eg. Motul RBF600) and a brace for the master cylinder, these will all help with the braking performance and pedal feel.

Nic
Ok thanks. Thats good to know. I will stick with oem then. Master cylinder brace? This is something ive never heard of will have to look into that! Currently ive got wobbling when braking, which im certain is warped disks. Wobbling under braking could be a warped disc, sticking caliper or possibly a worn wheel bearing. With the car idling get someone to press on the brake pedal and you'll see the brake master cylinder flex on the bulk head, some flex more than others depending on the master cylinder that is fitted. The brace minimises this flex, improving the braking force and firming up the pedal feel. scott87
Ah, bet those braces dont come cheap! I may look into fabricating one in the workshop to save some pennies. :-) It is definitely warped disks that is causing the wobbling. You can almost feel the pads running over the warped sections.
