Kaan W
Can anyone give me advice on h choosing a high stall TC. Im not interested in lock ups for fuel mileage or around town drivability I just want something that will let me launch at around 3500rpm. I was reccomended to get a 3200 stall but have heard so many stories of people still only being able to brake boost to 2500rpm and in worse cases 1800rpm! I know Dude is good with this sort of thing but as many of you may be aware he is not here as for certain circumstances. If anyone else can chime in and save me from testing 20 different TC it will save me alot of grief. Cheers

Dnk
I know its not what the op wants but aren't these supposed to be a bit crap when it comes to normal driving on the rd ? Sorry for jacking the thread

Sorry for jacking the thread I think its just mainly people that have never been in a car with a high stall that assumes this is the case then word goes around its no good for street use. Everyone that has got a high stall can give nothing but good feedback on them and even people running as high as 4000rpm stall says the car feels totally stock until pulling away on a hill or during kickdown or launching you will notice. MONKEYmark what make of TC you running and what size turbo(s)?
absz
i ran a 3800 hi-stall on a single and a standard twinturbo car had no daily driving issues. and came on boost alot quicker.

Kaan W
both cars i was running the PI-histall (Precision Industries) Ok i'll look into them thanks. Can you run hi-stall TC in stock box's ok Should think so as long as your not running at the box's limit in the first place it should be fine. Jamesy
I had hi stall on my old car. I had a 3800 first - absolutely horrific to use on the street, amazing for brake boosting. I then changed to a pi3200 and this was much better and tighter, but brake boosting only went to around 2200rpm. Beither were much fun daily driving to be honest especially going slowly up a hill behind traffic. Make sure you have a very good g/box cooler, i ran 2 srd ones. I then tried using my big single with stock tc and that was the worst driving experience of my life

I have 2 SRD coolers and have syvecs traction control so I should be ok Saying that I have never used traction control, not in the whole 2 days I was on the road but each to there own

Rob_Mitchell
Pi3200 is the one i was going to go for when building mine but stock is fine for me. I have big plans for my car next year but now with the Titan box out and having good results, i am just going to let titan advise me on whats decent for the power i have in mind. Unless SRD obviously get a built box sorted out which works and handles decent power.

So your staying auto then Yeah big time mate! i love the autobox.... it will be Titan or SRD built box next for me, decent fueling and bigger turbo, oh and a built head as i have the bottom end fit for big power in the car already. V8KILR
If you want to launch at 3500rpm then you will need a TC rated to between 3500-4000rpm. How close you get to the rating will totally depend on how much power (actually torque) that you make at that rpm. What turbo and AR are you running? FWIW, I've seen quite a few comments that people find it very hard to get the stall rpm from the Titan TC that they are rated at, so if you get one of these then get a higher rpm one then you think you need. I have a ~3800rpm stall with MasterPower T70 AR 0.84 and its fine on the street. I have to rev it to about 2000+ rpm to get it to move quickly from a standstill on the flat and probably 3000rpm on a hill, but thats fine for me.
