the last few times ive drove my car Ive noticed a loud rattle coming from the turbo area, sometimes it does it but most the time it dosent, still boost fine and has no smoke, ill not get the chance to check it out till at least next weekend now, in the meantime what do yous think it could be? possible just loose bolt rattling somewhere? what sound do the turbos make when they fail?

heres a quick vid, you cant see anything as i just pulled over when i heard it for a quick listen

If you are boosting fine, it shouldn't be the turbos. Also being stationary even if the turbos were playing up you can't tell until you drive it.

I'm taking a stab in the dark maybe its the heat shield? Best wait till morning and investigate a little more then.

im hoping its just that too, was too dark to see at the time, i just fitted the heat shield the other week one of the bolts might have come loose

I have something similar to this going on too but only when I lift off the gas and its in gear. Dip the clutch or apply a bit of throttle and it goes. Shouldn't be the clutch as I had it all changed last year with OEM stuff.

Watching this thread with interest....

Just looking at this now it is the rod rattling on the nownpipe, what's the best way to sort this? Looking at some posts some wrap it to dampen the sound but that isn't advised and it can't be changed unless the turbo is changed because its attached is that right?
