p3te
the last few times ive drove my car Ive noticed a loud rattle coming from the turbo area, sometimes it does it but most the time it dosent, still boost fine and has no smoke, ill not get the chance to check it out till at least next weekend now, in the meantime what do yous think it could be? possible just loose bolt rattling somewhere? what sound do the turbos make when they fail? heres a quick vid, you cant see anything as i just pulled over when i heard it for a quick listen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdQpfKoLiu0&feature=youtu.be
Dim Sum
If you are boosting fine, it shouldn't be the turbos. Also being stationary even if the turbos were playing up you can't tell until you drive it. I'm taking a stab in the dark maybe its the heat shield? Best wait till morning and investigate a little more then.

Guest Budz86
I have something similar to this going on too but only when I lift off the gas and its in gear. Dip the clutch or apply a bit of throttle and it goes. Shouldn't be the clutch as I had it all changed last year with OEM stuff. Watching this thread with interest.... p3te
Could well be, is this the little actuator in the top turbo pipe? I've noticed sometimes this sticks open so is it an actuator on the downpipe? accessed from under the car? reading that thread they cant be easily replaced? p3te
Just looking at this now it is the rod rattling on the nownpipe, what's the best way to sort this? Looking at some posts some wrap it to dampen the sound but that isn't advised and it can't be changed unless the turbo is changed because its attached is that right? p3te
yes it was the actuator on the down pipe, i think a hose had popped off somewhere stopping it moving so the rod was rattling
Guest Budz86
Think mine was the egcv actuator rod too, which has now been fixed open as I run permanent TTC
TubbyTwo
I have plumbed back to seq mode. Sadly car isnt taxed so cant test. Although cant replicate the noise on the Driveway when revving engine to 2k rpm. This was when I noticed the noise initially in ttc.
