Original Supra VVTi

Just bought a 1998 Supra from Japan. The car looks like its new, remarkable good shape.

I was told that the car is blocked at 180 km/h, does anyone know how to remove that? Anything else I should do in the first place?

I really want to gradually update the engine by buying part by part and then map it, but is there anything I can do now to make it a little more powerful for a low price?

I have heard that the engines from Japan originally are 500 hp, but then they choke it to 280 hp, is that correct?

And does anyone know how to remove the "beep" sound that appears when you put the automatic transmission in reverse? And where does the sound come from? :p

Congratulations on your purchase, use the search facility on this forum to help you know the facts. The buyers guide & newbie section will cover most points.

With regards to the 500hp, that is untrue. It is still 325bhp from Japan, the car is limited to 112mph, you will need a delimiter and converter to make it.

BPU is the most cost effective way to increase power, after that it gets expensive depending on what power levels you want. The stock ECU is not mappable so you'll need an aftermarket ECU for that.
