Timlowthian
Hi All Am doing a few bits on my friends supra and it needs a new ECU Coolant Temp Sensor. I found this on eBay but cannot find a Non turbo equivalent, are they the same? Is there anywhere else i can get one if they are not? Don't mind a second hand one for diagnostic purposes. eBay Sensor: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150706781515?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1118wt_1111 Also any one with any tips for removing and fitting the new one as if i'm correct it is the sensor screwed into the block under the power steering assembly is it not? Tried the workshop manual but couldn't see it in there! I'm an MR2 person myself so supra's are a new project for me any help or tips appreciated. Timlowthian
cant help with the topic im afraid but you live on the island? Whos/what supra you working on? Hey mate yes i have seen you round and even met you. It is my friend Nat's car met you at Top car park of Cineworld that time ages ago you were with the black supra (luke was it?) It was the silver one with the kit on? no mate it doesnt plug there, it goes into the radiator easy to do, need to get at it from underneath, its at the bottom of the rad by the drain plug. simple open end spanner on it will do i too have just ordered one from toyota, £45+ vat. im not sure if the NA and TT are the same. I thought the one in the radiator was the Temp sensor for the dash gauge? Or at least i'm reading the workshop manual wrong (quite possible btw!) Shane
Not sure if the na is same as TT, TT is in the rad for the ecu I will check and get back to you a little later, but am 99% sure that the sensor in the bottom of the rad is for the OEM supplementry electric fan in front of the rad on TTs. It has normally closed contacts and operates a relay in front of the passenger headlamp and that in turn switches the fan motor in. It has no bearing on the temp feedback to the ECU if I am correct. Someone on here will know this for sure and I will go out later and check anyhow. As previously mentioned, the engine coolant sensor for the ECU will be in or around the head somewhere. Could this be the problem with your starting Lude, looking at the wrong sensor? Timlowthian
Thanks mate didnt think it was radiator! Im trying to find it to chnage myself as it struggles to start without help when cold! Toyota want £55 for the sensor which i didnt think was bad but somehow couldnt tell me its location on the engine that worried me a bit!
