At what BHP does a Supra become dangerous / not easily driveable as a daily car?

My car is now just over 600hp. Its set up for time attack so its ridiculous at accelating and litterally has zero lag. Plus it runs an auto lsd so bangs through gears fast.

I personally wouldnt want anymore with this setup. All depends how its been put together. Right brakes, tyres, geo setup and suspension are often wringly overlooked inplace of whale tail spoilers and a turbo bigger than your head!!

Thats all backwards isnt it?

Autos are by far more tricky with big power, unless running in manual mode you certainly don't want 600hp changing gear mid corner.

Plus you have 470hp and big lag, what turbo are you running, also kicking hard at 3500 doesn't sound that laggy :search:

¨¨Autos are by far more tricky with big power¨ I agree !! I had a experience yesterday with auto on rain when the turbo kicked..... that was scarry but i´m glad everything was ok! Is EIIIUSA Turbo.... what do you know about this turbo ?

I personally think that because most people who arrive at 1000 bhp with the 2jz tend to do this with a huge turbo, more often than bot without vvt or quickspool, so that kind of lag followed by power spike on anything less than super wide tyres and flat sticky Tarmac can result in oops moments and brown adrenalin

But 600,700,800,1000 bhp can be very usable given the right setup delivery

Lower hp and higher low down torque that may sound less impressive on the dyno is better IMO

Ultimately if the power delivery was true to your right foot, then it would really be down to the driver, and the ability to have more than just on/off throttle

Too many factors!

Power delivery?

Suspension setup?

Tyre setup/condition?

Johnny's right on the money there.

I've drove BPU cars at 1 bar that had traction issues because of poor tyres. My car is currently 778hp at the hubs and I've NEVER had any traction issues at all. Even on a rolling start flooring it it 2nd.

i have a 500bhp car , and its a complete waste of time, thers never enough space to properly open it up. and on the rare ocasions i can its double the speed limit in no time. im thinking of buying a punto i can screw the tits off and drive to the absolute limit without being well into the high parts of 3 figures.

If you get a ticket in that, it's an achievement!

I was browisng the forums, as one does :D , and noticed that JamieP said about his Supra that it was quite a handful, bordeing om dangerous and that he wouldn't take his little one out in it.

I appreciate there are different cars wit diferent setups, drag, street, different maps, TRC etc. but even taking those things into account, after what sort of BHP region does a Supra become a real liability? 500bhp? 600bhp?

It depends how you drive it, a 800+hp Supra off boost is as easy to drive as any other Supra. To generate that sort of power you need a big turbo and with that the power delivery starts further up the rev range, in comparison a BPU sequential twin turbo that makes positive boost at just 1800rpm could catch you out a lot easier at lower rpms. A big hp Supra only becomes a handful when you choose, plant your foot at 4K rpm in say 4th gear already doing triple digit speeds and it can easily break traction. The thing that makes it a liability is having that potential power under you right foot, as it becomes very addictive!

It's totally up to the driver at what hp a Supra is dangerous. If you are a good driver then 600-700whp is fine on the street as long as you drive it to suit the conditions and the power it makes. If you are not a good driver, then sell the Supra now before you crash it. :)
