Brothy
Hey guys, got a bit of a problem i thought i solved, the drivers rear side brakes or wheel makes a creek noise, i also noticed when i taken my wheel off that my caliper tends to wobble in and out wen the the disc is rotating, there are crappy jspec calipers, any ideas ? Dnk
Whats the disc held to the hub with once you have taken the wheel off, is it loose or held in place by small screws
Brothy
There is nothing securing the disc to the hub, never was since ive owned the car, yeah the disc has a slight bit of play
Dnk
Put 3 or 5 wheel nuts on the studs and nip them up to hold the disc true then rotate it Edited September 10, 2012 by Dnk (see edit history)
Brothy
I will try that, if the the disc rotates fine and there is no wobble on the caliper, any ideas what the creeking could be wen the wheel is rotated
Dnk
Is this with the wheel off the ground and just rotating by hand ? Could be the handbrake inside the disc, wheel bearing, driveshaft CV joint or the caliper is binding on the disc

Brothy
The creeking is when i am driving, it starts of with a quiet creek then progressively gets louder over a short time, do you think i should let a garage check before i go chucking money at it ? Yes but take it to a good garage that actually know what their doing, most these days just change parts till they fix the problem If you put the wheel back on keep it in the air and check to see what it rotates like, any noise from the hub or caliper ? also hold the tyre at 9 and 3 and wobble the wheel to see if theres any play, do the same holding at 12 and 6 Does this wheel near the center feel any hotter than the other side after you've driven for a while ? use the back of your hand near to the wheel by the caliper to check for difference in heat showing a caliper is sticking Edited September 10, 2012 by Dnk (see edit history)
Brothy
No specific hot spots on the tyres, the disc is just as warm as the opposite side, wen the wheel is on and the car is in gear the wheel wobbles, a friend said this could be my wheel bearing ?? I do get a werring noise wen i make left turns amd goes wen i turn right
Dnk
If the wheel is wobbling then its either loose or the wheel bearing is failing but you should feel this with the test mentioned, your not checking the tyre for hot spots but play in the wheel bearing If you get the whirring noise changing as you turn left or right then this could be the wheel bearing failing
Brothy
Going have to get the bearing changed as its always made a werring noise from when i bought the car and take it from there
