Oddball87
I have just fitted new oil pump on Welshbuddy's car and put a new front crank seal in, i started the car then looked over the engine to make sure all was ok, I looked under the car and found oil pissing out from behind the crank pulley. I then quickly turned the engine off. After a bit of swearing i smoke and a cup of tea, i took the crank pulley back off to have a look whats gone on, my guess is i have pushed the crank seal in to far, i will get some pic's up tomorrow. Any idea's guys? Cheers Matt.
Kirk
Sounds like you've pushed it on to far and blocked the drain hole. The seal should be flush with the pump body edge.
Swampy442
As above, flush with the casing.

Tricky-Ricky
Ok cheers. What the best way of removing the seal so i can put a new one in Wrap a small screwdriver in tape and carefully prise out, but watch out you don't scratch the crank, alternatively you can try and screw in a small self tapping screw (you may have to use a small pilot drill if you go into the metal near the edge) and then use pliers to pull the seal out by the screw. Swampy442
How did you get the old one out? There's every chance the one you fitted has been damaged by the oil pump.
