Branners
Waiting for SteveR to come back to me. I have a hotel lined up but wanted to see what better ones he can find. At £85 per night the Holiday Inn is a little too pricy for my liking.
Havard
Waiting for SteveR to come back to me. I have a hotel lined up but wanted to see what better ones he can find. At £85 per night the Holiday Inn is a little too pricy for my liking. I thought it was £115 on the link I clicked. £85 doesn't seem that bad for a weekend night. We may stay over on both Friday and Saturday but child care could be a problem. H.
drift_bear
I know I'll be staying from the Friday to Sunday, just need to know where everyone else is going to be staying on the Friday night aswell
Branners
Im staying at the SHrewsbury Travelodge on the Friday night if that helps. Would people be willing to pay £85 for a hotel room for Saturday night? The premier inn I am looking at has its own pub attached and it £60 for the night, but is a little out of town, but has free parking.
listy
I posted a link in post #24 for hotels. Some for around £60 iirc. Personally, I would rather be a bit out of town, or at a hotel with a secure car park. One supra parked up wouldnt draw too much attention. But a dozen or two??? Too much "here we are" for my liking. Plus with all the saturday night pi$$ heads, would rather the supe be out the way a bit.

listy
Oh, and for drinky drinks, may I suggest visiting the Waterfront (near the Hippodrome). Half a dozen bars or so, all conveniantly next to one and other
Branners
Just so we know, if we are not within walking distance of the town we wont be heading in en-masse. We will use the bar at the hotel. In the absence of a better value option we may end up at the Bristol Premier Inn at Filton. If anybody knows Filton and would suggest we stay clear then shout now. Bath is just that bit too much further on.

In that case, I vote for a hotel near the city centre with on site parking, and preferably cctv coverage of the car park. Havnt had a decent night out in ages!!!!!!!!! Abz
Listy seeing that area seems to be your manor, could you recommend a couple of hotels & we can book into them please Nothing expensive, though secure parking is a must, prefer a bit of out of town too. listy
I have never stayed in Brizzol. Just been out in Bristol a bit. I can suggest good places to go for drinks etc but hotels? Wouldnt really know to be honest. I just went on Late Rooms and searched for hotels with on site parking Although Branners suggested staying at the hotel if its not walking distance from town, I'm sure people could get together and split a seven seater taxi into the city centre. Would cost pennies then. That would have been my plan anyway. In the absence of a better value option we may end up at the Bristol Premier Inn at Filton. If anybody knows Filton and would suggest we stay clear then shout now. I dont really know Filton, but I know its a fair way out of Bristol all things considered. listy
http://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/hotel-information/travel/brsry-bristol-marriott-royal-hotel/ £94.50 for a double room for two guests for one night. Secure underground parking for £12 a day. Wouldnt want to spend that much ideally. I'll look some more.
SteveR
I've been trying to get us a decent group discount from a couple of hotels - worth a shot but noting worth shouting about yet; more details on whether it's going to be worthwhile or not tomorrow. listy
http://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/78/Bristol-Central-hotel/rooms-rates?from=list Much better price. £60 for a double for 2. The hotel has an open air car park right next to/opposite the hotel. Its around half a mile from the main part of the "party" part of Bristol. For an idea of distance to the WaterFront bars. See map below. Seems the best bet for me. The only hotel with its own secure parking is the Marriot, but imo thats way too pricey. The-Plethora
Not been past that particular travel lodge but there is a premier inn in Bristol right next to the bus station so you could get to where you want to go quite easily. If you wanted to walk to town then the premier inn is slightly further away but might work out cheaper. Money is incredibly tight for me at the moment and living in Bristol myself I might just meet up with some of you guys around Cardiff way and tag along as I wont be able to afford much else. Bristol has a good night life though, that premier inn is quite close to park street which is where you want to be going for decent food and pubs, The apple is worth checking out http://www.applecider.co.uk/?page=about Specialises in Cider which if you are coming to the west country is what you should be drinking, basically it's a boat. The old duke is a very famous Jazz venue and has live music every night of the week, well worth going to this it's also right next door to the Llandoger trow which is another good pub. http://www.theoldduke.co.uk/ There is also a whetherspoons called the commercial rooms where drink is a lot cheaper http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-commercial-rooms
SteveR
I'm going to try this with the Travelodge I have posted about above. Really need to know final rough numbers though I've been using "approx 40 people in approx 20 rooms" just to get the discussion going - hopefully it'll be more than that! I've been asking for costs based on: room only / B&B / dinner plus B&B rates (where applicable). I've found a nice out of town place that looks like it's worth considering, especially with the discount they're offering. I've put it to Branners in the behind the scenes events discussion.
