Sound Proofing and materials to use

I was wondering if people could suggest some ideas on what they use for sound proofing. By sound proofing i mean just to quite down the road noises.

I have already order some of these to fit under the front passenger, driver seats, rears seats and some for the boot.

But because they are foam i can't imagine it fit well on curves and etc. So i am thinking about the Dynmat stuff too. I don't really want to spend a fortune on these so is there a cheaper option?

 

Ive looked up Fatmat, like everything you read online there's cons and pro to using it. Also have anyone heard of Flash banding? When i was searching for sound proofing that material keeps coming up so i was wondering if anyone personal used it for sound proofing?

 

Another thing while searching for products i noticed some had the silver foil and some are just black, does it matter?

Dynamat is recommended mate. I only did my doors with it, and it already makes a noticeable difference.

I used flash banding/ Roof flashing to sound deaden my mates car after he found out the price of dynamat. I installed 2 JBL GT5's running 250wrms each, did two layers of the flashing tape and it made a huge difference, reduced the rattling significantly. It works just as well and at a fraction of the price. Something to think about if your on a budget, but if you've got the cash spare, theres so many different types of sound deadening available..check out talkaudio, they have a special section dedicated to sound deadening:

Thanks for the heads up. I've now ordered 10sq Fatmat xtreme cost of £39.90

Also brought a 10 meter roll of the flash tape at the price of £10.54

 

So i am going to wait till my Fatmat arrives and compare the two, in terms of thickness and weight and maybe the smell. Ive heard that the flash tape smells a bit from looking at other forums.

Might even mix and match while while laying them out in the car.

Tbh mate seeing as you've bought the Fatmat, i would just return the Flashing tape. I only recommended it as a budget alternative, it does the job pretty well, but fatmat was designed exactly for sound deadening, 1 layer of that should be the same as 2 layers of flashing tape. The tape smells a little bit bitumeny, nothing too overpowering though, if anything, keep the flashing tape to fill in if you run out of fatmat
