sideexitsupra
Hi All, I have recently started to notice that my BPU is not feeling quick anymore and the power bug is starting to bite. I really fancy the idea of a V8 instead of a single. I know quite a few have gone down the 1UZ route to V8 power but fancy the extra power and torque 300bhp vs 250 and 325 torques vs 268. I think this may make a better starting point. As both engines were available in soarer and GS400/430 I am guessing the 3uz will drop straight in? Can anyone confirm if this is correct? johnny g
Let me get the obvious out the way. BUY MY SETUP Now, on to your question. The 3UZ is a lovely engine, especially in the VVTi form, but why not see if the 3UR-FE is viable?
Dan_Turism0
or LS1?
rxv8
just rear sump the 2uz ls400 vvti or the 430 vvti,i think 3uz is 4.7 iron block>>>???
rxv8
also the vvti 4.0 and 430 are light years faster than the 4.0 1uz,in driving and power delevery... rear sump it and bolt it in with soarer engine mounts...
johnny g
just rear sump the 2uz ls400 vvti or the 430 vvti,i think 3uz is 4.7 iron block>>>??? The 2UZ is too low-revving, unless you forge - then it's £'ssssss
garethr
I would imagine that it will be more difficult to find a 3UZ. LS430s and GS430s are thin on the ground. Also, remember that anything other than an early 1UZ has weaker rods. An early V8 Soarer is probably the best bet if you're going for forced induction without rebuilding the engine. If you plan on changing the internals, I guess it depends how much you are prepared to pay for 300cc and VVTi (and you'd still need a Soarer sump ). straightsix
Why not just get a Supra with a 1UZ (I know where there's one pretty local to you ) and supercharge it/turbo it? I would think from a quick estimate that cost-wise the 3UZ would work out expensive as unless you're running an aftermarket ECU, you're going to have to find a way around the immobiliser. As already stated - 3UZs are thin on the ground.....
sideexitsupra
Thanks for the info guys. Will think about this some more, but it looks like the most cost effective route will be 1uz.
