rallly
Hey guys, I own a stock J-spec 93TT Supra with 110k on the odo. I just installed a Supra specific HKS BOV where the OEM one was and there seems a bit of oil spray coming out from the front of it. It is setup to vent to the atmosphere as my car is MAP. The car seems to run fine., My stock twins seem healthy, don't see any puffs of smoke, I don't lose any oil after spirited driving and don't smell oil.. I just know there is oil residue in the intake pipes and ic pipe . There was some at the OEM bov pipes and bov itself. Would it be a good idea for me to install an oil catch can or breather filter at the valve cover?? I don't know much about this and I did do some searching with no definite answer. Just don't wanna buy stuff that won't fix it.
Durandal
If it's just a residue building up where the BOV vents, that's normal and I wouldn't worry about it. If you can visually see oil squirting out that might be another problem.
Swampy442
Bit of oil is normal but check your PCV valve isn't sticking to be on the safe side.
rallly
Bit of oil is normal but check your PCV valve isn't sticking to be on the safe side. How can I check if it's sticking? That was a BITCH to take out when I did my valve cover gaskets..

If you disconnect the pipe attached to the PCV non return valve, you should not be able to blow hard through it, as its there to prevent boost pressure going back into the engine. rallly
So leave the pcv in the motor and send air through it? It shouldn't allow air right?
Swampy442
It should pull out easy, it's in a rubber grommit. Stock boost is only .8bar so if you can get a pressure source less than a bar go for it.
rallly
Ya I just hope I don't break that grommet and send chunks into the valvetrain. I broke it before when I had the covers off to do the valve cover gaskets. Bitch to pull the PCV off.
