mixad
I have had 2 coils that stooped working on my car this season. I use supersparks and boost 2.0 bar on high boost and 1,2 bar on low boost. About 2 months ago i got a new coil from Superspark. But this week I had another one stopped working. It seems o happen when i'm under high boost. I dailydrive 70% with low boost and 30% with high boost. When all was working fine I was able to boost 29 psi the whole day with no problems. When it happened last time I was pulling 3rd gear, no problems then shifted to 4th and when it hit boost it start to misfire badly. After this I can't boost at all without missfire, even on low boost. Idles perfect though, even with the "bad" coil still in car. I need to know what can cause the coils to stop working. Can I link the boost pressure and the coils malfunction? Sorry for bad english...
jimojameso
I can't help with why their failing but i have heard original toyota coils are much more reliable

absz
On boost the spark duration is increased which basically means more current draw from the coil pack to jump the plug gap and maintain the spark. so a weak coil pack will fail. IF you have the coil pack failing on the same cylinder after replacement then it will be a fault with the ignitor pack (end stage) all these componets can be checked using a scope.
