Ren
Hi guys. I've had my supra for a few years and it's never given me any trouble, but I just left work and pulled onto the dual carriageway and my steering seized. I pulled over where I could find some space and the engine was smoking, ignition off, opened the hood and the radiator had blown it's juice everywhere. After waiting a while, I refilled with some coolant then turned the ignition on to see if it might work again but noticed the fan belt isn't turning at all :/ I just wanted to see if anyone knew if this is a major fail or something that can be fixed roadside? I'm either calling AA to drop it home or to the garage, but as its closed it'll be on the street. Any advice would be great guys. Thanks, James. Kaan W
I take it the engine doesnt run at all now? Could be somesort of debris from the radiator jammed in somewhere.
Benjy
If the engine's running and the belts aren't the turning, something's siezed. If it's boiling up, my guess would be it's because the water pump isn't spinning. Sounds like it be needing a pump/altenator/guide pulley and some new belts. Ian C
I imagine the crank pulley has separated, so it's no longer turning the accessory belt. Hopefully the smoke was just from the rubber part that's split rubbing against the still-turning inner part of the pulley.
Ren
Ok, I had a deeper look into the engine bay and found this guy just chilling out on the floor AA to the garage it is then. I had it all checked a few months back and had a new belt, it looks like the middle of this ring is still attached. Cheers guys. Pay day tomorrow, woo.... Josh
If the radiator lost coolant, it may have given it a whack.
