add heywood
Started cleaning the engine bay for the shoot tomorrow, took the air feed off the turbo and noticed a very clean looking hose connector underneath, you can see it in the photo's... First thing is what is it and should there be a pipe to connect it to...? As you can see i have an oil leak that needs fixing... Could this be the culprit? hodge
That's a drain plug for the water pump. It's a saftey feature on the pump incase too much pressure builds up in the system it pops the seal inside the pipe and let's the fluid out, instead of cracking the head or block. Iky
Probably best keep a short length of hose on it. Incase the water pump does screw up. This way it will avoid it going all over the alternator and killing that.
Swampy442
Hodge is sort of right, its a dry drain for the water pump. Should the bearing seal fail coolant will leak out as an indication something is wrong.
