I'm sure Homer once posted up a big list of all the twiddly bits that you need which really mount up. It also kinda depends on where you draw the line as well, people talk about sticky tyres and upgrading the brakes, but personally I wouldn't include them in the actual single turbo build budget. I'm not saying they aren't a good idea, but if you're running a soop you should have those already :D

I'd only include the necessary-for-it-to-function stuff, like ECU, fuel system, exhaust stuff, intercooler pipework, wastegate etc., the fitting, fabrication, and subsequent mapping as well. And a clutch if you use one and it isn't man enough for the power.

My experience of all this dates back probably too many years now to be wholly relevant, but I got some parts 2nd hand or at mates' rates, I already had some stuff, did the fitting myself bar the clutch, and even mapped it. And it still cost me about £10k ;) The fuel system was rather overblown in the end, could have saves a couple of hundred there, but otherwise everything I did was necessary.

I must add, though, over the years the correlation between:

"pffft you lot dont no nuffin u can fit a single for 2 grand just dont get all hks branded stuff u brand hores lololol"

and a few months later:

"got a nasty noise from the engine wats wrong?"

Is statistically significant :D
