Durandal
I ran into a tragedy where a section of my crank position sensor got sandwiched between my thermostat housing without me knowing as I tightened up the nuts on the housing which resulted in the crank position sensor cable being damaged in two places. I cut out the section of the cable and spliced in a piece of wire to get it working. I know the cable is shielded and grounds electrical noise from the alternator back to the engine. Do you think I'm fine with the non shielded splice tied back away from the alternator or should I just fit a new sensor? Car seems to be working fine. Is a new sensor easy to install? Picture of the sensor from Simon's engine build thread.
