mellonman
Ill bet if you took the aux belt off the pulley will just seperate in your hands. yes that you need a new crank pulley my friend
ashbuster
so it could just be the pulley and not the crank?
mwilkinson
That looks like it has delaminated. The outer ring is off centre compared to the inner part. That's a new pulley for you sir.
ashbuster
not as bad as i first thought, new aux belt which i knew i needed anyway and new pulley , i was expecting new engine :O maybe not that bad but even so this bolt is going to be a bitch any ideas how much they are roughly ? listy
£282 off whifbitz. Thats gone up in the last few weeks then No more than 4 weeks ago I paid £238 delivered iirc. Or is that for the Titan one?
ashbuster
shocking how something like that is so expensive or are these not stock?
dan294
http://whifbitzperformancetuning.co.uk/toyota-supra-engine-components-toyota-parts-toyota-p-11669.html Looks like a standard one. I got a quote from a Toyota dealer that I use for £295 all in, including a 15% discount last week!
listy
The one I got is an OEM copy. Been 100% fine so far and was assured by Paul it is as good if not better than the OEM one. However, if going for big power in the future, may as well fork out for the Titan one.

ashbuster
thanks guys really stupid question im going to ask now im not sure how long this has been doing this for because it doesnt make a sound and it feels rock solid but you can see its nakered, only wobbles on idle with revs it straightens what are the odds of me being able to drive 10 mile without it flying off? or can this go at any second now?
dan294
Looks like the cheaper one is a pattern part. The £282 one is a genuine Toyota. You could drive it, but it may not be worth the risk!
listy
I wouldnt drive it too far mate. Off boost you *might* be ok. Mine was like this, and after I put a load of bits back together, gave it a couple of revs to make sure everything was back how it should be, and it fell off! If that was on a main road, I probably would have lost my rad at the same time. Get a pulley delivered next day, and replace it yourself. Took me 45 minutes
ashbuster
how did you do it so quick? dont everyone struggle with the bolt
listy
I used the starter motor mate. Breaker bar on the bolt, resting on the floor PASSENGER SIDE (cant emphasize this enough, else you would do a lot of damage!), dont start the car, but crank it over, and the bolt will come off. Probably helped that I had mine off a few weeks earlier to do the oil pump etc. Then its a case of removing the pulley (easier said than done, I had a very large Fijian pull it off lol) New pulley on, bolt back on, (torque it on, cant remember off the top of my head what it needs to be, I *think* 230 nm *i think*) Belt back on, ensure all the timing is lined up correctly, and away you go
Oddball87
Yup new pulley mate. When we do the single conversion i can change it all then, might as well do the cam belt at the same time bud
Oddball87
Give Daz a txt he always finds cheap OEM parts somehow lol
Swampy442
Not expensive really, but it is a service item and it does have a given life span. Buy a new one, fit it, forget about it. I have a genuine Toyota crank pulley tool, saves all the danger of long bars and turning engines over.
