Expansion Tank Leak Coolant

So yesterday Myself, TonyTT, Ian W, and Ross C went for a jolly to Crianlarich. It was sunny, dry, and warm. So gave the car a good testing of the new Suspension, and of course BOOST!

We stopped off at a view point, to take some pics, and i noticed coolant dripping down onto the lower part of the bumper. We popped the bonnet, and the expansion tank was Full to the brim with some coolant coming out of it, no other leaks were present.

What we did notice though was the Upper rad pipe, was so flimsy it had actually sucked itself in, best way to describe it, was to suck all the air out a empty bottle.

After a few mins the Rab pip fully expanded again, with the expansion tank back down to normal level.

Temp was fine all day, even after the incident.

Could this be a failing Rad cap? Or just a really really Old Rad pipe??

It could be that the cap is knackered and letting coolant out at too low a pressure, or it could be that during your stop the system heat soaked and you lost the coolant that way. The vacuum vent is very small compared to the pressure vent, so once the pressure in the system had dropped and the system started to cool, maybe it wasn't pulling the coolant back in fast enough to stop the system generating a negative pressure and collapsing the radiator hose. Actually, maybe the vacuum vent in the rad cap is knackered, too?

Anyway, as you said, new rad cap is the order of the day :)
