Think I've Blown My Turbos

Not yet looked at the intercooler itself as I'll need to get wheel off and some of the arch liner off I believe, that's my next job. Have checked all the other pipework and can't see anything. Fingersd crossed it's the one place I still have to look.

You can try the inner tube test to check for boost leaks in the charge piping. Google it but generally you need a schroeder valve from a bike tyre and an inner tube and you use it to apply pressure across the charge piping (throttle to turbo outlet) and check for the pressure bleeding off. This might be an easier task than removing all the bits and bobs.

I've tried revving it at a standstill and boost gauge only reaches 0.

I can't hear anything that sounds like a blown hose.

That's how it is. Unless the engine is under load, it won't make boost. My boost gauge doesn't go above 0 at a standstill :)

You wont make boost standing still. The car has to have load in the engine so accelerate quite hard from about 30mph and see what the guage says.

The way the turbos work it is possible that if the first turbo is blown it wont generate any boost at all, but it is usually the second turbo that goes.

Mine used to come out of vacuum if it revved hard enough at standstill, not very much but enough to diagnose my blown pipe. My single now makes 3 or 4 psi when revving at standstill but obviously a wee bit different.

I'll take it in to the garage next to work tomorrow and see if they can have a proper look.

I think I'll be investing in a troller jack soon as I should of really tackled this one myself and made the most of the weekend weather.

Are there hard pipe kits available for the smic or are they only availaible for fmic?
