Mk4 supra twin piston front calliper refurb.

hi everyone, may be its old hat on this site but i just fully refurbished my fron twin piston callipers and the the rubber flexible brake pipes and new pads. i tried to contact "red spot" several times and eventually i got a reply when i tried e-mailing them, they quoted £138 inc. vat and postage was £10 each way so circa £158. So i contacted my local oem humphrey moons at wigan in lancs and they delivered a complete repair kit £51, brake pads £65,rubber flex brake pipes £103, all inc. vat and del. i prefer the original equipment especially when the other bits lasted 15 yrs. the flex rubber hoses delamaninate inside and cause the callipers to bind as the brake fluid cannot return through the pipes. to spit the callipers you need a E14 star drive not somthing every diy guy has, you can grip the end of the pistons with mole grips and then work them out, not easy but possible with plenty of wd40. So after one hours work i refurbed my callipers for £51, all be it my pistons were in first class condition and red spot's cost includes new pistons, so their cost is quite respectable. there are only one or two companies reconning callipers as there are so few cars on the road which are 15 yrs old and most cars are worn out and scrapped before they need new callipers. herbiemercman.

I'd of fitted braided brake lines all round, approx £60

As for getting the pistons out you either pump them out using

the brake pedal or once there off the car compressed air.

You can buy brand new uk spec 4 pot calipers for under £200 each

so £160 for a refurbed 2 piston j spec isn't worth doing in my opinion.
