Tayfun.tugra
hello all. I have a 1995 TT auto import non converted which struggles to go past 70mph even when slightly accelerating. Anything under 70mph is fine, with no sounds, no unusual knocking or shaking.. although we have not tried under hard acceleration..being it auto, we are not sure if it happens in all gears around the 3000/3500 rev mark. we dont want to even drive the car encase its something serious. when struggling, the exhaust does not have a constant exiting flow, which makes a loud choking sound every exit puff, the engine also sounds like its either about to explode or shut down. no smoke comes from the engine or exhaust (except the usual amount). the car could easily reach 140mph without a problem before the car had done 2 years in the garage with a start 1ce a month; which may have something to do with it? what is causing this? how can it be resolved? any help will be appreciated. thanks Edited August 14, 2012 by Tayfun.tugra (see edit history)
Abz
Sounds like it could be mis-firing? Is it stuttering when you are trying to accelerate at that speed? Has it had a service since the 2 years it has been stored?
Tayfun.tugra
yep, it does stutter, and it was serviced with iridium plugs just before storing, but not after
supra joe
Sounds like you need to change the pspark plugs and leads.

Abz
Think it might be a good idea to change the oil as well, seeing as it has been sitting there for 2 years.
