Jamesc183
Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone knows what the annoying noise is I have obtained in the O/S rear wheel? Its either the Hub or the brake? I dont think its the bearings because it litteraly makes the noise as soon as the wheel rolls from pulling away (not a humbing noise). Any help appreciated, Thanks Guys. Dnk
Think you need to put a little more info up to give anyone a chance of helping you. Have you tried jacking that wheel up and spin it by hand ? it could be wheel bearings, cv joint, handbrake shoes, sticking brake caliper, a stone in the pads, the disc rubbing on the back plate Edited August 9, 2012 by Dnk (see edit history)
Jamesc183
Ok, im basiclly gonna jack it when i get out of work. But the only real information I have is that it makes a swishing noise everytime the wheel turns when the car is moving. Thanks for the reply Dunk. Dnk
Jack it up using the diff and you can then compare one side to the other, when you get home see if one side is hotter than the other around the wheel center, this would show up a sticking caliper. Dont touch the wheel though, just hold the back of your hand near to the center
Nic
Does the sound go/change when you apply the brake? Which brakes do you have fitted (see HERE)? if they are the smaller 2 pot sliding calipers then as Dunk says a sticking caliper would be the first thing to check for. Another thing to check is that the wheel nuts are tight.
