mclarenross
I’m dropping a 1jzgte into my car this weekend and I don’t’ think I was supplied a reservoir for the power steering with this motor, so my mechanic has said I should just swap the one from my 2jz over. However the 2jz has the reservoir attached, (the 1jz doesn’t) has anyone else done this before? Is the 2jz pump and reservoir a direct replacement or will the reservoir need modifying? I have used the search on here and I know that they are the same pump, but I can't find any info on the reservoir..... thanks!
welshbuddy
I'm sure I'm running the 2jz power steering, ill check tonight for you mate.
David P
With the top hydraulic hose and hose to pump fitting, a GTE reservoir is a straight swap onto the pump if the GE version doesn't fit.
mclarenross
Hi david, I've got a 2jzge pas Are you saying that the 2nd reservoir will work without the 1jz pump? Thanks
David P
I'm saying that 2J and 1J PAS pumps are the same and using the top-hose with end-fitting, GTE and GE reservoirs are swappable, yet not sure if there's space for a GE res with the 1JZ-GTE inlet manifold? pedrosixfour
You will need a TT reservoir, the suction hose and the union to join hose to pump in order to make use of the NA power steering pump.

pedrosixfour
Ask keron on here, he's a supra breaker They usually sell as part of a TT conversion, it's unlikely he'll have one spare but you never know. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?274322-Gauges-power-steering-tank-top-water-neck-top-rad-hose-boot-carpet-brakes&highlight=steering
