Window motor current draw

Cheap Chinese current clamp round the wiring bellow coming out of the door and you have your answer :) I would guess 8 amps or so. May rise to over 10 as the window shuts and the thermal cut out has to open if you don't take your finger off the switch. As Heckler says, what fuse are they on?

Will see if I can check later.

I have refitted normal almost full weight doors with glass and need to wire up some window switches, ive found something suitable in Maplin but dont think they will handle the current, next option up are freaking huge :(

Do the switches switch the full load or do they go through a relay inside the motor?

If they do switch the full load, couldn't you add some relays of your own?

The window motors are very simple, ie two pins, switch the polarity to go either up or down, dont really want to be adding relays etc.

This is not a stock setup, this is on my track car so no wiring to the doors, no stock switches etc.

At the moment I just hold some wires direct on the battery to go up or down :D

I think these will do the trick http://www.maplin.co.uk/10a-toggle-switches-2360
