Durandal
The voltage on my o2 sensor at warm idle is 0.1 to 0.75 and a constant 0.45 on start up from cold. The car smells and feels like it is running rich. The o2 sensor should read 0.8-1.0 when rich though right? The ends of my spark plugs are white and dry and my water temp and air temp sensors resistance is within specs. I can't find any boost or vacuum leaks and my PCV valve isn't plugged. Am I right in thinking this is a bad o2 sensor? Or is there another failing part that would exhibit these symptoms? Car is stock jdm tt and showing no codes. Iky
Possibly. They're not that expensive from rockauto, worth replacing it anyway if it already hasn't been due to the age of the cars.
Chris Wilson
The only sure test is to put a `scope on the sensor output and see how fast it responds, and what the pattern looks like. Any decent garage will be able to do it, there's even a connector box under the bonnet, no need to even get dirty A map sensor issue could give similar results, get them to log the output of that, too. Durandal
Have an O2 sensor ordered that should be here tomorrow. I pulled the connector off the MAP sensor while idling to see if it would stall and it did. I hope the new O2 sensor fixes the problem but I have my doubts. The issue presenting itself after the car sat at work during a real hot day makes me think there is a vacuum leak in one of the not so easily visible places. Durandal
Fitted new O2 sensor and now I don't get the rich smell at the tail pipe or the boggy drive but the new sensor is reading 0.15 to 0.75 at a warm idle. It should be 0.5 to 0.7?
