Guest Toddy
Hello I'm new to this forum as you can guess.. Live in March in Cambridgeshire recently sold my 2.9v6 sierra hatchback. Now looking at taking the plunge and getting a real toy was debating a TT auto supra.. What's everyone's thoughts? Manual? Auto? single or twin? Looking at a budget of around 5-6k. Guest Toddy
What are they like to drive? Driven a few autos before but never a TT they tail happy?
ripped_fear
The supra Auto box come highly recommended by many members, and in stock or BPU form it is considered superior to the manual box by some. Get your self out on a test drive and see what you think.
safcdixon
What are they like to drive? Driven a few autos before but never a TT they tail happy? They are like any powerful rwd car if the wheather aint great rain snow etc then yes they can be tail happy but drive to the conditions, in the dry they stick like cack to a blanket! i love my auto its awesome in a strieght line and in the bends once you learn the rev range. try and get a test drive of one before you buy you wont be disapointed, tbh if you keep your eyes open and are willing to travel you might get a 6speed at that money
Guest Toddy
But are the 6 speed box's a lot weaker than the autos?
ripped_fear
6 speed is bullet proof mate, they have been known to hold well over 1000bhp the auto however no way in hell you will see anywhere near that.
tony tt
Welcome Toddy. 6 speed boxes are stronger than the auto box and will handle huge amounts of power. The auto box is good for around 500hp with supporting mods if you decide to go the single route. I have a tt auto myself and its faultless. Guest Toddy
Ann I was told the auto box's are stronger :s may have to look for a 6 speed TT then!

ripped_fear
Auto are definitely not stronger, but the price difference between the auto's and manuals reflect this, TT6's on average around 9-11k auto's 5-7k but obviously you do exceptions to this, some bargains some more expensive. safcdixon
good thing is though if your autobox goes bang it will cost you circa £200-300, 6speed will cost 2-3k to replace worth bareing in mind imo

A tt auto is still a fantastic piece of kit. The auto box is one of the best out there imo as far as autos go. 6k will get a great clean auto for that price.
