rallly
Is this pipe any good performance/quality wise when compared to other quality name brand pipes? It's to go on my 93 jdm tt. Heading for BPU but want to squeeze most performance for my buck. What other choices do I have? http://www.ebay.com/itm/120383602480?item=120383602480&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr
Noz
I would of thought performance wise the only difference would be the dimensional width of the pipe. The wider the pipe the better flow your get. The manufacture will usually just give a difference in product quality. Being a 3" pipe your pretty safe with that item your not gong to be restrictive up to well over BPU levels. With a wider pipe, or different manufacture the chances of lowering performance are slim. Obviously with a smaller pipe say, 2.5" you may reduce the BPU potential. The general say-so is 3" exhaust for up to 700hp, different opinions are knocking about depending on who you talk to. Obviously the wider the exhaust the better flow your get. Nic
Is there such thing as too big? Like in terms of not enough back pressure? 2.5", 3" or wider, whichever you fit you'll need to fit a restrictor ring so the difference will be negligible. Samurai 20V
Got it fitted on my TT6... Straight fit, no hassles, car runs as a BPU should.. Recommended...
rallly
Just what I needed to read ^^ Might be a silly question, but how will my exhaust guy join my 3" dp to a 2.5"midpipe? I'm sure there is a coupler for this but just wondering in-case I gotta purchase some special part for him. Got it fitted on my TT6... Straight fit, no hassles, car runs as a BPU should.. Littler
They should fit no problem as they are, as a typical 2.5" 2nd decat (midpipe) should have the same 2 bolt flange that will be on the 1st decat despite it being 3"
bigbloodyturbo
Had one fitted when i was bpu, mechanic moaned that it didn't line up with the trans mounted exhaust bracket but that could've been him being pedantic so he could charge more. Worked very well although it did rust so is not stainless but the flanges all lined up with no issues.

Mine went on no problem, bolted up to the OEM bracket as well and is definitely stainless steel..
Littler
I looked into this decat a while back, and stumbled across a site that mentioned there was 2 versions made with the later one being stainless, will try and find the link...

mattdavies
I run it on mine and fitted it myself, the only thing that didnt line up was one of the gaskets. Instead we just used a nice covering of exhaust paste/putty

rallly
What are my brand options besides the autobahn88 downpipe for my jdm supra and midpipes?
rallly
What mates to the autobahn88 dp?
mattdavies
Yeh mine came with gaskets and bolts, I got mine for £99 from hong kong via eBay. I mounted it to an unknown 2.5" 2nd decat no problem. I fitted it with a whiff bits restrictor ring with out any issues and the fit is fine
dan294
I got one of these as well. I'd recommend it.
Nic
What mates to the autobahn88 dp? The Supra has 2 catalytic convertors as pictured below, the short one nearest the engine connects to the turbos, then there's the 2nd larger catalytic convertor, this then connects to the cat back exhaust. The autobahn88 decat pipe in your link replaces the first cat. Standard 1st and 2nd catalytic convertors Stock cats next to decat pipes
