Hartmann
38mm would be fine mate .. it should hold boost down on an 61mm turbo. but a 44mm/48/50mm works just as well

hodge
so whats the difference like why different mm?? The bigger the wastegate the better control you have over your boost I.e to iliminate boost creep. I have s 44mm Tial wastegate fitted and a monster GT42-76 turbo. The gate struggles to hold my boost at 1.4 bar. I see a little bit of creep to 1.5 or 1.6 on a nice cool day. Jamie had the same problem with the same gate but found it was fine over 1.7 bar. Personally, if I was you, I'd go for either a larger wastegate or a twin wastegate setup to futureproof the setup. I know you say you want around 500hp BUT you'll quickly get bored with it and want more. You'll say now that you won't, but you will. My last supra was just over 500hp and I got bored with it in about 2 months.
