MOT testers - windscreen washer functions reversed is this a fail?

Hi folks,

originally I though my washer pump had gone, but on closer inspection its far more entertaining. If I push and hold the button on the wiper stalk it washes the rear window. If I twist the stalk to wash the rear window it washes the windscreen.

Technically they all work, just in a different order so would this be an MOT failure?

Rear washer has no place in an MOT, so if the front washers work on the rear switch, likely chances are they won't operate to check! Best thing to do would be to pass advise it, but make sure you inform the MOT centre that you take it to about this so they know how to operate it!

You don't need a sign for the front washer or have it on the factory position as long as it works :)

Just had this a couple of weeks ago on a retest, failed on no windscreen washer, but he said I could fault find there n then, if I fixed it he would give me a pass. I found mine were reversed, so he passed it, his words were, not interested in the rear, as for the front as long as A button (any button) works the fronts its a pass.
