Tee from China
Maybe a stupid question but the scoops on the skirts in front of the rear wheels are functional or merely a styling thing? I ask as whilst most aftermarket skirts have them but the Do Luck ones don't - so are they needed or not?
mellonman
functional mate they stop the air preasure building up from the wheels spinning, this force can generate alot restistance slowing the car

Guigsy
Uk spec has a diff cooler in there too

Dnk
Unless you have access to Toyota's data or a wind tunnel then you can only assume what the airflow does around the car. Or you could do what the F1 boys do when there testing new aero parts at the track and get some aero paint
Tee from China
Uk spec has a diff cooler in there too Dont think so as AFAIK the cooler is mounted on the rear panel near the fuel tank:innocent:

Tee from China
so if they are an important functional feature why do Do Luck delete them do you think?
Tee from China
Its behind the air vent in the off side wheel arch Oops sorry thought it was nearer the diff and now realize where it is
Dnk
Because its much easier to make the bodykit parts without the vents in perhaps, or they made the kits and then went oops we forgot the vents but don't say anything and no one will notice
Chris Wilson
I doubt Do Luck or any other iffy "styling" company give a twopenny damn about what they do to the aerodynamics of the car, so long as they achieve a comic book look and sell some ill fitting fibreglass Toyota on the other hand are after maximum MPG, which means as little drag as possible, as little high speed lift as possible, and a fit and durability that won't see them sued for big bits falling off their cars on the motorway, or for offending good taste in the western world (what little there is left...) supra joe
so if they are an important functional feature why do Do Luck delete them do you think? Because the japanese are crazy, maybe they thought it would make the car more aerodynamic.

Guigsy
Or they dont know the exports had the cooler. And decided it looked better. So had nothing to loose appart from a bit of aero.

So Chris your saying Do Luck are an 'iffy' company? Bet Jamsey wont be best pleased then None of the Japanese stuff (Vileside excepted ) is that bad surely? True the many copies are cr*p though
Tee from China
Or they dont know the exports had the cooler. And decided it looked better. So had nothing to loose appart from a bit of aero. so we can assume that the diff cooler was only on UK and European versions as Do Luck USA even blended the skirts on that show car and we know that the yanks only got turbo versions
stevie_b
Good post by Chris Wilson there. Most bodykits seem to be 100% style and not much substance.
Chris Wilson
All fur coat and no knickers I have no idea whether Do-Luck are an iffy company or not, just sure their body kits are not made "in the best possible taste"
