Jellybean
Anybody have any suggestions on bringing the Scuttle panel back to life! Mine has gone a little faded over the years , it is 19 years old!
Kirk
Prep, plastic prime and then coat it with satin black.
Jellybean
Didnt realise you can paint it; I presume you need to use some sort of UV resistant paint By Prep , would you sand it?
Kirk
Its no different to painting the insides of your headlights. A good prep is the key. If you want an OEM looking finish then give it a few coats of matt lacquer. That will protect it from UV.
Dan_Turism0
i'm debating getting mine carbon dipped http://www.wickedcoatings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Golf-R32-scuutle-tray-carbon-dipped-2.jpg

Kirk
Easiest way is to take the bonnet off, the rest is child's play.

I'd be interested in doing that! @JellyBean - When Stonkin detailed my car, he used Auto Glym Bumper Care for the scuttle and it came up a treat. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?270010-Abz-s-white-NA-Supra-at-Invisible-Touch-Detailing&p=3404441&viewfull=1#post3404441
Kirk
I guess it all depends on how far gone it is. I've seen some which are virtually white in places, no treatment in the world will bring that back.
The-Plethora
1. Remove the 5 scuttle screws 2. Remove bottom rubber strip (very fiddly, may lose some clips) 3. Remove the wiper covers at the base and 2 bolts You should be able to free it now. I sprayed mine black and it came out quite well even with my poor skills. A few of the fishbone ribs were damaged on mine, if I had longer I would have removed all these between the ribs, sanded it back and sprayed. Still wish someone would make a carbon fibre or fibreglass version of this though.

Kirk
They do some nice work. I quite like the satin lacquer finish over the gloss.

linconhawk
The other week I cleaned mine up.... Came up like new.... It was grey / white in places... really looked bad... Gave it a good wash, then got a toothbrush and used Autoglym "Vinyl and rubber cleaner". Sprayed loads on, scrubbed like mad, left it for about 2 hours, then done it again... Still looks new to this day....
