Issue with top end rev power

Hi

I have a twin turbo 5 speed but when I'm in 2nd gear it will go up to around 5900 ,3rd gear it only revs up to 5000rpm, 4th gear it's like 5100rpm don't have a clue why ? The speedo doesn't work either but been told that it needs a delimiter on it ? Would that affect the gears ?

Not enough info :) Help us to help you!

When you say it only goes up to 5x00 revs, do you mean it hits a rev limit and bounces off it, or it misfires, or it just runs out of guts and doesn't really accelerate past that point?

TT 5spd = a conversion, yes?

Okay il start again :) the car is a 1994 import Gz which has been convert to a tt5 speed and it used to be an auto NA

The sympotoms are in 2nd 3rd & 4th the car won't go above 5500rpm just holds there ? I brought the car yesterday so havnt a clue what to do on how to fix it ?

Hmmm. That sounds like the Auto ECU is enacting an ignition retard prior to a none existent gear change (if you still have an Auto ECU in it that is). Try wiring the L signal wire on the ecu to a 12v ignition switched feed. This will force the ECU into thinking it's in mechanical first gear "L" and won't try and change gear. Used to have the same problem when using Auto Camry ecu's on MR2 v6 conversions ;)

What Nod said is a good starting point, and probably the answer. The ignition retardation would act like a soft limiter. If you're no mechanic you need to take this info & the potential fix to the mechanic that will be trying to sort it :) Or taking the car back to whomever sold it to you if it was sold as fully working :)

That would make sense but I'm no mechanic and I dot have a clue about anything like that :s

Lift the passenger side footwell carpet and you'll find a black plastic cover, remove the cover and you'll see 2 metal boxes behind it, the larger of the 2 is the ECU it should have a part number on it (something like this '89661‑14491') post up the part number so we can identify what ECU is fitted.

The thread in the link really needs to be stickied, or added into the auto to manual conversion guide in the tech section. This pops up every few months, sounds like the same problem anyway. Clicky, clicky! http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?249622-Neutral-safety-switch-Auto-Manual-Conversion-Engine-Light-Problem-5800-rev-limit&highlight=5800+rpm+rev+limit+pin

Guys just to help out in this situation, it was my car that he brought. tbh everything was fine and i didnt even notice this was a problem until corren told me about it! the ECU in the car IS a manual one. and i had all the work properly checked over by ryan g once it was completed.

when i done the TT swap i used the Engine, Loom and ECU that all came together.

hope this helps

Fixed the problem I had a mate from driftbitz had a look and the turbo intake induction had a very soft hose where it was connected so when it got hot it was very weak so imploded restricting the power but I am happy now it has been fixed and the car runs like a dream :D !
