Scutch0
Noticed it a few times now, I just get a 'tick' when I turn the key as if the battery was flat but it's not... I normally set the alarm and then de-alarm it and try again, which it normally works. However anyone suspecting the alarm, the immobiliser bypasses the starter completely, so if it was cutting in again it wouldn't try to engage at all. Worth checking te earth for it or is it common for them to fail? Mines done about 110k if that makes a difference?
Iky
This might be a cheap fix for you. Worth a shot for what it's worth I think. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-SUPRA-MK4-JZA80-3-0-inc-TT-TWIN-TURBO-STARTER-MOTOR-SOLENOID-REPAIR-KIT-/290746791629?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43b1dbf6cd
