benkei
I've been to view a few Supras recently, and noticed that the reverse gear position varies. In some it's 'away and forward', next to 1st, and in some it's 'towards and down', next to 6th. Is this a difference between the V160 and V161 boxes, or facelift and pre-facelift Supras? Guigsy
5 speed is away and forward from my memory. 6 speed (both) is down and right (after lifting the boot thing)
benkei
These were all TT6s. I should have stated that in my first post! My old TT6 was away and forward after lifting up the collar. I thought this is how they all were?

Abz
5 speed is away and forward from my memory. 6 speed (both) is down and right (after lifting the boot thing) That's how I remember it as too. My 6 speed is downwards near the 6th gear (V161).
SupraD06
My Jspec TT6 is towards me and down, along side 6th ( V160 )
Alex
6-speeds are all the same. If it didn't go in down and towards it wasn't a 6-speed. V-160/161 was mainly a ratio change.

Mine was a 6 speed and reverse was up next to 1st. I had an OS Giken triple plate clutch set up though, would that have made a difference to the gear knob position? Guigsy
Yeah iv driven both 6 speeds and they are in the same place. The 5 speed I dont remember clearly as it was a very long time ago
benkei
So to clarify, it should be next to 6th after lifting up the collar under the leather boot?

benkei
Yep, you sure you didn't get sold a 5 speed? I hope not, otherwise I'd have been cruising down the motorway in reverse! You can see my gear knob shows reverse as top left, I remember it, as it's the same as my moms Vectra! (which is only a 5-speed! )
