supraGZaerotop
ive had twin turbo supras since 2008 now and until now have never been in a normal 2jzge supra. a guy i know has one and its a lovely car, exhaust , really nice rims etc. so basically he took me out in it the other day and well i was sitting there thinking this thing is going to go well now , so we took off down the road and he wasint holding back 7k thru the rev range, honestly im very shocked at how slow they are , i really thought they'd be quicker than that, i think my old leon cupra 180bhp would have it no problem. TT supra really is in a different league/just a different car, just looks the same. To be fair going backwards in power will always feel slower but for me and many others who got a NA due to cost/ and having no experience in rwd they probably feel quite quick when stepping up from golfs ect and either way they are still fast enough to have a bit of fun anyway. hackin_n_bashin
I wouldn't knock them too much, although they will never be "fast" I've already seen off a few golf gti's, a 2.5 diesel Beemer and more than kept up with a 56 plate Astra VXR both in a straight line and in some very twisty bits. If I was more of a wordsmith I'd have written some spirited driving chronicles, as stepping down from a bpu TT auto I have been pleasantly surprised as to the ability of the NA. supraGZaerotop
im not having a go or taking the piss out of the NA, dont get me wrong. i have never been interested in having an NA, it is TT or nothing for me. all i meant was i generally thought they were quicker than that, speaking of golfs, i have a gti 20v turbo and its probably not far off an NA in performance. Compare the costs and I bet you could get more from the NA for the same amount spent......... Somebody give me a brain scan as I seem to be sticking up for a NA in public. Josh
Well said, There is nothing like slaying some little jumped up bellend in a bmw complete with similar mate/both wearing sunglasses when it is near on dark. Either way, a quicker Supra would have been better The Supra looks way too fast when you see it to just have NA power!
Kirk
Mine goes up to 8k with the mines in it, Not advisable though Ah yes the non existant rev limiter! Neil got quite the shock when I sold mine to him!
hackin_n_bashin
Mine goes up to 8k with the mines in it, Not advisable though Yeah, they are no good, terrible things so I'll do you a favour and do a straight swap for a standard NA manual ecu
Graham1984
Ah yes the non existant rev limiter! Neil got quite the shock when I sold mine to him! Tell Neil to hurry up and buy another supra and to generally stop fannying around, I even replaced him on this forum with a guy called Neil who owns a white NA as well to stop too many people having withdrawal symptoms. "The Supra looks way too fast when you see it to just have NA power!" Thanks for your input Josh you Bell You are right but still a helmet for saying it
dr_jekyll
the problem is Pont Of Sale hatches feel fast because they are often unstable under accelration . the mkiv is a refiend car in its stock form and due to its weight size and stability it masks speed very well. the na auto feel slower than they actually are because of how smooth and planted they are
tkddav3
to be fair i went in a mates n/a just before i got mine, it seemed pretty quick to me! then i got the shock of my life when i brought mine home

Herb
that's right dr. jekyll In my opinion the NA is quite a fast car. Of course you can't compare it with the potential of a TT, but still.... it's fast. The actual gap between a stock Jspec TT and a NA is not that large as you would expect it. When you sit behind the wheel of the TT it's all about torque. - that creates this kinda "fast-car" feeling. And you certainly won't have that in a NA. Concerning spirited driving chronicles... Raced against a Audi TT ( 8J; 200 bhp 2,0 TFSI) straight line. That Audi didn't have any chance for example... Of course comparing my NA with a stock NA would not be fair as my NA is not stock at all, but still NA. (View my build thread including dyno results in the german supra owners forums; did a xerd header, mine's VX-Rom ecu, decat and installing a high flow cat, hand made exhaust system, TRD LSD, lightweight pulleys all around, ATI crank damper, a lot of new OEM parts etc...) by the way... I could also do a build thread here sometime if somebody's interested. My project is known as the "NA_BPU"- Project in the german speaking area. I went on the track last weekend so there will also be some videos available soon. My mechanic who is (the only) supra specialist down here said that he never heard a 2JZ sound that mean For all the haters: Yes I could have converted it to NA_T or even TT for the silly money I've spent on this car. but: you will never be able to drive it legally down here due to austrian law. regards, Herbert Edited July 4, 2012 by Herb (see edit history)
