Number Plate Flipper - Front bumper solutions?

Recommended Posts

Evening All,

I'm looking at modding my front bumper so that the number plate can be hidden, similar to what David did on his immense build

I've searched around and found a lot of US sites that sell these, does anyone know of any based in the UK, or where I can get a motor with a similar motion?

Cheers :)

Some idiot had this:

It was bespoke, built from MR2 heater martix flap motor and some brackets. Didn't work particularly well, but then neither did anything that the person who built it was involved in. [/bitter]

Subscribed, tempted to get something like this when I get the front of my car done.

You got a stock front bumper right Adam?

Getting it done whilst the lip goes on would be a good idea ;)

Yep I've got a stock bumper, also picked up a spare to test ;)

And yeah I think getting it all done together with the lip will make the front end look good :D

Just trying to find the best way to fill the number plate holes as they sink after a while :(

Those alloys are candy red...not pink!:p

Like this idea...interested to see what you come up with.

Baldy recommended against doing it and after he explained it made a lot of sense! But may do it, completely at my own risk mind.

Having spoken to people I'm thinking that fibre glassing the back and plastic welding pieces of plastic matching the size of the holes in there could be the longest lasting method?

When my car came over from Japan it had a wind assisted plate flipper mounted.

So the plate was mounted and when moving forwards, the pressure just flipped it over. When I parked up I pulled it back down down again by hand.

Hours of fun.

I say hours...

In the end, the whole thing fell off.
