Littler
Evening All, I'm looking at modding my front bumper so that the number plate can be hidden, similar to what David did on his immense build I've searched around and found a lot of US sites that sell these, does anyone know of any based in the UK, or where I can get a motor with a similar motion? Cheers Edited July 2, 2012 by Littler (see edit history)

Gaz6002
Some idiot had this: It was bespoke, built from MR2 heater martix flap motor and some brackets. Didn't work particularly well, but then neither did anything that the person who built it was involved in. [/bitter]
Littler
I'm thinking something like this can be mounted the right way into the bumper: http://www.flipaplate.com/harleyflipper.html - - - Updated - - - Some idiot had this: Which idiot was that?? ...What did you do to make it? Littler
First post updated I may look at making one up! Reason I'm looking is because I want to make it easy to have the plate visible and not for MOT time As I'm going for this look (bar the candy red alloys lol): Edited July 2, 2012 by Littler (see edit history)
Abz
Subscribed, tempted to get something like this when I get the front of my car done. You got a stock front bumper right Adam? Getting it done whilst the lip goes on would be a good idea
Westy
Those alloys are candy red...not pink! Like this idea...interested to see what you come up with.

I am sure you can leave this to baldy
tooquicktostop
Just delete the front number plate, I have not run one for ages on a couple of my cars, you would get more grief being found with a devise that hides the plate IMO
ashbuster
couldnt you fiberglass the back of the holes and filler the front and sand back /paint shouldnt sink then
Littler
What even if you filler them and smooth them down? I am sure you can leave this to baldy Baldy recommended against doing it and after he explained it made a lot of sense! But may do it, completely at my own risk mind. Having spoken to people I'm thinking that fibre glassing the back and plastic welding pieces of plastic matching the size of the holes in there could be the longest lasting method? JamieP
Will keep an eye on this, something similar could be handy for myself.

Lbm
When my car came over from Japan it had a wind assisted plate flipper mounted. So the plate was mounted and when moving forwards, the pressure just flipped it over. When I parked up I pulled it back down down again by hand. Hours of fun. I say hours... In the end, the whole thing fell off.

Littler
One for the back plate too? Weirdly I've found a 'slide down' type thing that I could use so the back plate slides behind the bumper
