listy
What do people use? Obviously it needs some heat resistance, so Hammerite? Guessing a spray would be better. And how do people paint the writing? Do you use a mini roller or a brush? And do people use a heat resistant laquer (is there such a thing?) I know I've been asking a few questions lately, got 6 weeks of leave coming up, so want to do as much with the cars looks as possible while I have the time

listy
Did you use a heat resistant laquer? Or just a normal run of the mill laquer?
Geo
as above, but i'd prepare it, key it, prime it, paint it.
listy
I have done little bits of paint on dashes/engine bays before, and when prepping it, I have used a fine sand paper to rough it up, the primed, sprayed and laquered. I have heard plenty of people mentioning to "key" it, but what does that mean? *ignorant*

Havard
Thread title is misleading. I was hoping to buy a spark plug cover that would paint itself..!!

letmeshowyou
Yes. It's wet outside, so I have a half polished car from last night On a serious note, interested in this thread as it's something I intend to do myself over the next few weeks. I'm sure I read somewhere that self healing paint was real (just hoping it wasn't on April 1)
safcdixon
When I painted mine I used the same paint I painted the car with and it's still fine hasn't peeled or cracked, I removed the lettering from mine though except the Toyota badge
