dr_jekyll
does tis allow you to controll the overdrive as a gear. so you have 4 upo and down? or do you only have 2 shifts with the paddles. and why does it stop the engine braking i dont fullly understand that
David P
All 4 gears are controlled with the paddles. Suprastick in manualised-mode has engine-braking in O.D. and 3rd, but not 2nd or 1st. Stock ECU auto-mode has engine-braking in O.D. and 3rd but not 2nd or 1st. Stock ECU Manu-mode has engine-braking in all gears because the 2nd and 1st gear brake-bands are controlled by the stick movement. David P
Suprastick manualised-control is the mutts-nuts and I am amazed my Supra is the only Mkiv on the Planet that has it! Here's a link to a collation of information that may be of interest. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/group.php?groupid=57 Edited June 29, 2012 by David P (see edit history)
Josh42
How much does it cost to do this upgrade?
David P
When I bought it, the Suprastick inc shipping and taxes was about £250 and the Tiptronic steering wheel was £90, yet planning to change to Lexus paddles that cost me £40. http://www.latentsolutions.com/suprastickuv.html Edited June 29, 2012 by David P (see edit history)

JasonR24
Sounds like my first mod when I get a TT! Does it come pre programmed or do you have to hook it up to a laptop and program it first?
Shane
Sounds like my first mod when I get a TT! Does it come pre programmed or do you have to hook it up to a laptop and program it first? Sadly, I think I am correct in saying that Suprastick will not work on a stock TT box due to the amount of solenoids it has. David will confirm this I am sure. I think you will have to do what he has done and upgrade a box from an NA by using parts from your TT box and then use that in your TT. There is another recent thread on here about just this if you have a look around. It appeals to me as well. I spoke to David last week and this also has the added advantage of control over the TC reducing the amount of slip and therefore bringing the coolant temps down. JasonR24
Yes and Bob's your Dad. With wiring diagrams, a Tiptronic steering wheel and a lot of head scratching. So it's not this simple then? There are gearbox modifications needed?
David P
A Suprastick ECU can control an N/A 3 solenoid valve body, but not the T.T. 4 solenoid system, which means it's plug&play for an N/A box, but not T.T. The A343/0E Hybrid transmission I have developed uses the stronger T.T. mechanical components which are controlled with an N/A valve-body which makes it compatible with stock N/A electronics and/or Suprastick. This transmission would work fine in a T.T. with a Suprastick standalone transmission ECU but not stock T.T. ECU. There are other standalone transmission ECU's that claim to control the stock T.T. box, but yet to see one that has been done. There's lots of info about the Hybrid transmission and Suprastick collated in the group link. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/group.php?groupid=57 Edited June 30, 2012 by David P (see edit history)
JasonR24
Any news on a workable version for a TT? If not do you fancy doing this mod on a TT I might get David? ....
ubersonic
How come the suprastick works on the MKiii TT but not the MKiv? O.o
garethr
How come the suprastick works on the MKiii TT but not the MKiv?Because the gearbox that's used with the 2JZ-GTE has ECU-controlled line pressure. The 'boxes used with the 1JZ-GTE, 2JZ-GE, and 7M have cable controlled line pressure.
