Supra classed as chavy????

Lately I have been hearing how my car is supposedly chavy which although I find it amusing I also find myself getting somewhat annoyed at the same time, Was just after peoples thoughts and experiences on this subject and maybe a list of what is a chavy car and what criteria other than the driver makes it chavy.

Not sure how anything with a 3l engine is chavvy. To me, a chavvy car is one, for example, like a corsa with a stupid body kit, and stupid paint scheme, driven by a "chav" who thinks burn outs and donuts in a carpark is cool.

I personally think the supra isnt chavy but doesn't take much to push it into the 'chavy category'.

I do find it funny that people have such double standards though, if a 19 year old is in a car park doing a burn out in a 1litre saxo they are there fore a chav, but if a 19 year old is doing a burnout in a nice jap car and post a video every one reply's positively.

Also a 20 year old car can easyly be chavy imo, what would you say if you saw a bad boy fiesta or nova go by? chav? I think so :D

A nice, well maintained Supra, without a silly bodykit and neon lights, regardless of the engine specs is the exact opposite of a chav car.

How in the world can you classify this as a chav car, dear God... Supras are a thing of beauty.

I think lots of Japanese cars can be classed as chavvy. A Supra if poorly kitted and covered in tasteless mods would be in my class of chavness.

Most Supes are tastefully modded and have a classy stance and these car things of beauty.

My car is insured as a classic and has been for the last 4 years.

Most the time I find the response varies, Ironically both my parents like it and my Dad had to drive it back from Derby the day I got it due to me not being insured on it until the next day, He loved it and was having a few blasts down the M1.

I find one of my neighbours comments a lot in a snide way when I wash it each weekend (weather permitting or being worthwhile to do it) but typically where I live only me and one other bloke on the estate actually was our vehicles regularly.

One bad thing about the UK is the fact that there a too many Supras there. Some being pretty bad examples, as we know. They also come at prices that makes them accessible to a lot of people. People have less appreciation for them there, compared to other countries where Supras are really rare. Sometimes i wish RHD Supras were just as expensive as LHD ones, so they cannot be messed with so easily, but other than that, i'm thinking i would probably never owned one myself at those prices. Nothing worse, than a Supra falling into the wrong hands ..

In my opinion a car cant be chavy! I think the term "chav" gets thrown about too much these days at anything. A chav should be the label of hooligans that hang about in large groups causing a nuisance and generally being off key and loud. I hate the way you can be classed as a chav for wearing sportsware for the gym or having a loud stereo because you like bass. A "chav" should be kept as an adjective to describe a bad mouthed youth with an attitude problem that hangs about at your local corner shop spitting everywhere shouting abuse at random people.

More chavs drive M3s than supra`s so not really is the answer :)

all i get is positive comments about mine, i well designed kit or standard looking supra is something to admire. some people just dont know how to correctly use the term "chavy"

A week after I got the car an elderly gentleman came outside his house to come and talk to me and my friend who I had gone to meet. He said it was a beautiful car and he had not seen one for ages, He even apologised for butting into our chat but frankly I always try to have time for people who generally appreciate and enjoy having a quick peek and a few questions.

I think this is what gets me on the whole subject as this guy was near on 75 iirc and he loved it, my Dad who is 60 likes it along with some other people his age but ironically it is the people younger than me and that are about 18-20 that think it is chavy?

Go figure.

Because its not the normal, conformist, German car that's why people call them chavvy. Sure, it's not as classy as its Soarer or Aristo sisters, but a stock looking car with nice wheels is a good looking car

Maybe I should get a Lada and just hear about how I have a crap car instead..... Maybe that should be the way to go.
