listy
Could be the pads are too tight/need wearing in
RA28
have a look at the back plates. They bend quite easily and could be fouling on the disc.
Brothy
Back plates? You mean back of the pads ?
RA28
No, the ones that sit behind the discs.http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=supra+brake+back+plate&hl=en&client=safari&tbo=d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=dUbiT4GDIbGY1AXCs6zFAw&ved=0CE0Q_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=672#biv=i|53;d|Y5jvieyNKztKpM: Edited June 20, 2012 by RA28 (see edit history)
Brothy
Will check them in the morning, could be wen i was testing the brakes on rear by pumping the brake pedal that the fronts have tightened up and not retracted correctly ?
Nic
Have you fitted the anti-squeak shims? Edited June 20, 2012 by Nic (see edit history)
Brothy
Is that two long pins which sit ontop of the pads ?

mwilkinson
No they go on the outside of the pads between the pad and the piston. Thin metal sheets, two for each pad. Edit - Beaten to it!! Grrrr......

Guest Budz86
Best just fitting all new ones tbh mate - mine were horrendous until I changed them and installed new spring clips (shound be 2 on each side to push the pads apart and keep them off the wheel). Quite an easy bit to forget!
Brothy
I suppose i would have to wait for them to be orded from toyota wouldnt i
Guest Budz86
You may be lucky, they could have some in stock. Or maybe try Paul at Whifbitz?
Dnk
While your waiting i'd be checking its not the calipers seizing up. Do you have the smaller 2 piston fronts or larger 4 piston (uk spec) ?
Brothy
2 piston mate
Dnk
Check the caliper is moving freely on the sliding pins and also check the pistons move freely. I've left the anti squeal shims out on my 4 piston (uk spec) and they don't make any noise but they do have a smear of copper slip on them
stevie_b
No they go on the outside of the pads between the pad and the piston. Thin metal sheets, two for each pad. Are you sure it's two shims per pad, or should that be two per calliper (i.e. 1 per pad)?
Nic
Are you sure it's two shims per pad, or should that be two per calliper (i.e. 1 per pad)? 2 shims per brake pad on the 2pot front brakes. 1 shim per brake pad on the 4pot front brakes.
garethr
Two for each pad. SHIM KIT, ANTI SQUEAL, FRONT - 04945‑14010 Edited June 21, 2012 by garethr (see edit history)
Brothy
Just checked front left side and noticed the back plate is touching the disc, gone chop away the part that contacts the disc when the rain desides to slow down then will check the drivers side, is it safe to put a bit if copper grease on the pads ? stevie_b
Brothy, are you sure it's been fitted properly? That doesn't sound right at all. Do you mean the anti-squeal shim is touching the brake disc?
