Littler
Evening All, Thought I'd show you the steering wheel I'm going to fit with the little mod I've done. Like some of the other members I wanted to update the interior a little but keep an OEM look, so first thing that needed to go was the 4 spoke dated looking steering wheel that has been on it since it left the factory. I looked at a lot of aftermarket ones but nothing really suited the OEM look, then I started looking for the MR2/Celica steering wheel as it fits with ease and is OEM lol. But one thing I wanted to do was keep the cruise control functionality, so I started searching threads and managed to source the smaller facelift cruise control stalk, here's what I've done: The wheel (great condition, out of a 2002 MR2): http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=163340&stc=1&d=1358767329 The facelift cruise control stalk (plug and play ) http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=163341&stc=1&d=1358767329 Stripped down as the steering wheel doesn't have a hole for the stalk to fit through: http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=163342&stc=1&d=1358767329 http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=163343&stc=1&d=1358767329 Test fit without the back plastic: http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=163344&stc=1&d=1358767329 Hole cut and it fitted in place: http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=163345&stc=1&d=1358767329 http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=163346&stc=1&d=1358767329 And done: http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=163348&stc=1&d=1358767329 Just waiting for Toyota to get my airbag adapter and I'll pop up some pics fitted, also not sure whether to pop a TRD badge in the centre or not. Littler
Or take the battery off... Which you should do really.. Would do that anyway , does make sense (also stops the airbag light from staying on too)

Jos
Looks very good, that is how toyota should have made the stock steering wheel . Did you order the adapter from toyota? if so, can you share the part number?
Kirk
Or take the battery off... Which you should do really.. Doesn't stop them going off. Kill procedures on all SRS system demand around 30 minutes battery disconnect and an anti static discharge of yourself before handling. Forgive the technical mobo jombo but ever since I had one go off in my face and knock me into the back seat I'm very serious about such things. Non the less, nice work littler. Yeah sure can, the part no. for the airbag adapter is 09082-00760, i think it was £12 ish from my local Toyota dealer

sideexitsupra
Looks great, well done. As for airbags, I was very worried (polite version!) when I removed mine, but all went well.
David P
When I built mine I used a TRD centre. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=121832&d=1272893767

That looks great with the tiptronic controls!
David P
I bought a TRD horn button just to get the sticker with a hooter logo and I remember it's a different size to the wheel centre badges. The tiptronic controls are connected to a Suprastick V4.6 standalone transmission ECU and I have Flappy-Button gear change.
