Ibrar Jabbar
I have a small oil leak coming from the upper sump or rear main seal, can't really pinpoint it at the moment anybody like to hazard a guess before I start stripping the car down again. The oil settles at the bottom of the box circled in red. I also have a leak from the gearbox marked in the pic with a red line. I didn't notice this whilst the old oil was in the box, seems to have appeared since I put in Royal Purple synchromax, any thoughts? Any help appreciated as I need to get this sorted ASAP. http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=153329&d=1339540523

Angry Acorn
I have the same leaks mate just mine are BAD! mechanic said it was crank seal for me if i remember correctly and then also there was a small seal that I had been replaced by the box area which had a leak but yours looks different? and Im now both embarrassed and ashamed at the state of under my car....thanks
mwilkinson
If red (assuming its red gearbox fluid) then it's the front gearbox seal. If standard oil colour I would say rear oil seal.
Ibrar Jabbar
The exactly same thing happened to me when I changed the oil inthe gearbox after a clutch change..! I have a very tiny leak just where you have your redline... What gear oil did you use as a replacement? If red (assuming its red gearbox fluid) then it's the front gearbox seal. If standard oil colour I would say rear oil seal. The front leak is engine oil, but its hard to tell if its the back of the sump or the RMS I am going to get the box off, later today. The rear leak is definately box oil but just wanted to see if anybody else had a simillar problem and what needs doing to rectify.
Chris Wilson
Could be: rear main seal rear main seal housing to block joint lower sump to block / rear main seal housing If it's lower sump to block ring me, I know tricks...

Ibrar Jabbar
I got the box off and checked the rear main seal which still looked OK as I previously inspected this when I fitted the box first time round. The rear main housing looked suspect and had oil residue, so I got it off and found some dodgy silicon which had started to delaminate most possible cause of the leak. I will get a seal ordered of Mr Wilson tomorrow and hopefully the engine oil leak will be sorted, just need to do something about the box next. http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=153395&d=1339619737
Chris Wilson
If you e-mail me your address tonight I can get a seal out tomorrow morning, my wife sends them from her workplace, if you order tomorrow it won't be with you until Monday. We can sort payment out later. Just a thought if it helps you get on with it. Cheers.

Chris Wilson
No worries, glad it arrived in time and you are up and running. Now, I am well known for not liking many body kits, but you have made an awesome job of that machine, and it looks quite unique. Nice work!
