Hello

i'm in mind to rebuild my engine in a near future and i 'm running a single T67 with 850cc injectors. my hp is approx 550hp.

i have bought a TT bottom end bored at 87mm from a forum member because i was thinking putting some CP Pistons on the engine.

I think i m' gonna go higher in hp and try to go to 650hp.

My question is : do i need forged conrods or can i put OEM new one? it's simply a cost question.

What max hp does the oem con rods goes to?

what safe hp does the oem con rods goes to?

thanks to all!

Personally I would replace the rods whatever the hp if I was doing a rebuild but its all personal prefrence, to upgrade your rods is always a good investment and piece of mind but can the money be better spent somewhere else if your not planning on mega numbers? Normal rods should be ok up to 700hp I would say...

Stock engines have run 1000hp in the US, but a single dyno pull vs daily driven abuse are very different.

A healthy stock engine in the UK has been proven many times to be safe at around 650hp as Jamie already mentioned.

I believe Jamie also had a very healthy stock engine running approx 700hp and when stripped down one of the legs was a little bent, im sure there is a pic somewhere, maybe Jamie could repost it :D
