Guest Supraman3.0
why not convert the car you got? yes, I'm planning. 5 speed gearbox into my tt. is the power from the tt engine to high for the gearbox?
welshbuddy
depends what 5 speed box you are running, most likely to be the w58. Im using the w58 with my TT and its taking it fine, other people shred them to bits!! suposanly they can take 400hp, but not constant thrashing. Soon as i save enough im buying the r154 gearbox which is the stronger option. there is alot more than just the Gearbox you need by the way, clutch and so on. Supra Gaz
Depends what power you are pushing out. The w58 (stock na box), depending on condition can hold 400 bhp 400 torque, with a decent clutch flywheel. Abuse it and it will die suddenly. Whifbitz sell good clutches for this conversion. listy
As welshbuddy says mate. The R154 is a better option, or preferably a Getrag 6 spd, although they are pricey. I also have a w58 in my TT, with a stage 4 competition clutch, and stock flywheel (at the moment) Handles it fine and im more or less bpu. Guest Supraman3.0
i want the r154 from the mkiv n/a. This clutch right? http://whifbitzperformancetuning.co.uk/toyota-supra-clutches-flywheels-competition-clutch-p-12149.html
Josh42
The R154 never came in the mk4 NA, the R154 is a soarer/mk3 box...
Guest Supraman3.0
sry... i mean the w58.
Josh42
No worries pal, I'd strongly recommend the R154 box for anything more than standard TT power though:)

This clutch right? http://whifbitzperformancetuning.co.uk/toyota-supra-clutches-flywheels-competition-clutch-p-12149.html Mine is the Stage 4 ceramic mate. Handles it very well. Around the same price. The one you are looking at will be fine too I expect. Best thing to do is what I did, and discuss it with Paul Whiffin (Whifbitz owner) and he will suggest the best one for the job you want it for
Swampy442
On stock torque it will be fine ( its torque that kills boxes not power, and lots of drag starts)
