Rattle after fitting timing belt?

I just had the timing belt replaced on my 95 TT. The engine was like a mouse chewing paper before, but now there is a strange rattle on idle. It comes and goes on tick over, and sounds like the front top of the engine. Its quite a heavy insidious rattle noise-just can't put my finger or ear on it.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

In advance

James

I am changing rattle to knock type noise......-:0 no rattle type knock?

Haven't got a clue, the more i listen the more it sounds like the accessory tensioner,or a lifter?

I had the AC gassed a week ago,it was like Alaska in the car, since T/B fitted no AC....coincidence? You can clearly hear the AC kick in but just ambient outside temperature- NO AC!

So in short, nice AC and quiet engine before timing belt, not knock and no AC!!!

Should have done it myself but just out of hospital.

Excuse my poor editing of the photo but the aux tensioner and its pulley are arrowed in red, push the pulley

in the direction of the blue arrow to take the tension off the belt then remove the belt highlighted in yellow :)
