far
Anyone know much about these? Whats the autobox like? Meant to be able to get them up to 320 bhp for about 500 notes and they seem to be cheap as chips these days
Seb
Just had a chat with a guy who had one for a bit - not sure about the auto as he had a manual, but he says it was great for covering long distances, really comfortable and quick, though not so good on the B roads, as in his words it would try and eat the inside front tyre on every corner. Google for a company called Volvo Tuning UK - afaik they do a 320bhp upgrade for around £500 as you say.

Holly
Holly's owners on here have got some sort of T5 i think Yep, we have the convertible with the auto box which is great with this kind of car. Fantastic cruiser, pretty fast when you put your foot down and easy to chip (not done ours yet; haven't felt the need), lots of toys (similar to the (UK) Supe, like leather / heated seats), plus climate control and pretty good standard stereo. Fuel consumption is fair for the size of the car; we get around 28 m.p.g with a fair bit of motorway driving. Note also that it's much bigger than the Supe (longer and wider!). On the downside; she's a bit 'ship like' on corners, but the pros certainly outweighs the cons. She's gorgeous!
far
HI Holly - thanks for all the info, sounds like the auto box is pretty good then, I have always liked the T5'S even more so since I learned you can get good power from them, and they are dam good VFM nowadays. I must admit they are lovely inside too - very luxurious. I have only test drove the manual, what is the '3' for on the autobox - is that like the 'manu' mode on the supe? Didnt realise it is bigger than the supe! then again just thinking about it there seems to be good legroom in the back. Any comments on turbo lag on the auto? I will be up and down the country for the remainder of the year or sat in London traffic hence wanting something comfortable and with some presence in the 3rd lane needless to say as Seb suggested it will be going down to volvo tuning UK to get the chip conversion and I will be sorting the suspension out too, once I have found the right car! Will keep you posted.
Holly
Hi Far! The '3' is for 3rd gear, so yes, like Supe's 'manu' mode. Great legroom in the back and we're tall people, the convertible is 4 seats only, but I think the saloon will be 5; you'd need to check. Yep, there is definate turbo lag, especially compared to the Supe and the T5 seems more 'laggy' than our previous V70 (LPT), but after that initial hesitation, she flies! I'm sure the chip will sort it out! Ours was already lowered when we got her, but we fitted a strut brace pretty quick which helped a lot with the handling, but if you're going for the saloon, I don't think you'll have much of a problem. Good luck & keep us posted! Jen
