Boge
I'm looking to (eventually) go BPU but would like to keep a quiet(ish) exhaust. I have been looking at the hks hi power silent and the apexi gt. does anyone have any advice as to which has the nicer/quieter exhaust note or if there are others that would do the job better? Boge
Supra is a 98 tt vvti
Nic
The Apexi GT and HKS Silent Hi-Power are both quite loud. I don't have the figure for the Apexi but these are some of the quieter exhausts that are available for the Supra, the Db levels are what the manufacturers quote, the levels will be a little louder with the cats removed. Boge
Cheers guys! I wouldnt mind the TRD exhaust - I think it's only slightly louder? But discontinued... Think I may go with the HKS
Dnk
HKS SuperDrager pipework is coated mild steel so be wary buying an old second hand one
Tyson
I have a single box Hi power silent and would say its perfect, on tickover and general wafting about it is pretty quiet but on WOT it has a lovely note !! Note that I did over 1100 miles with it on the Dragonball and if you put the windows up you can hardly hear it in the cabin put some music on and you can't hear it at all. Best of both worlds really quiet when you need it to be and loud when you want it to be

Dnk
No offence but a SuperDrager sounds nicer than that
Tyson
Is that a single or a twin box ? i.e. is there just a back box or does it have a silencer about half way down the exhaust?
safcdixon
You don't need too worry about noise just get a nur spec r, noise only effects those who listen

Boge
Just checked the HKS site and it says incompatible with vvti back to the drawing board
Nic
Just checked the HKS site and it says incompatible with vvti back to the drawing board It will definitely fit a VVTi Supra, from the 2nd catalytic convertor backwards the fit of the exhaust is identical on all MKIV Supra models/years. You see this quite often on manufacturers websites where parts have originally been designed to fit an earlier model car and the listing shows a comment about compatibility with later models. Boge
I did think it a bit strange as it doesn't seem like it'd make a difference however, not being mechanically minded I have to go on what I read. Thanks for clearing it up though! Any recommendations on the best place to buy one? Titan, nengun, rhdjapan etc?
